LEARN MORE ABOUT PURE INDOOR AIR
Owner Jason Fox didn’t set out to build an award-winning HVAC company. Since 1995, his early years were actually spent working in the trades as a plumber, carpenter, and HVAC apprentice. When the recession hit in 2000, companies began downsizing and instead of working fewer hours, Jason saw an opportunity to put his experience to work for him in another way – the landlord business.
He already owned a duplex in Burlington, WI and within 9 months would acquire 42 apartment buildings, a coffee shop and a Mexican food chain! With work hours continuing to dwindle from the recession and the success he was having with real estate, he volunteered to take a leave of absence from United Mechanical, until the economy turned back around.
Over the next 6 years, Jason wore many hats rehabilitating dozens of buildings as the co-creator and owner of Fifth Ward Development, a small general contractor that rehabilitated mixed-use buildings throughout the Milwaukee area.
Throughout the years, one thing was for sure, contractors were not always the most dependable or easy to work with bunch. So, to sidestep the problem, Capital Construction Services LLC was created in 2007, as the construction arm of Fifth Ward Development. Bringing the construction services in-house was working but finding a dependable HVAC contractor was still a big problem that was costing business.
So, in 2010 modeling what they knew was already working, Capital Heating & Cooling was created as the HVAC arm of Capital Construction Services. Already familiar with HVAC, Jason added HVAC service technician to his list of growing job titles. Throughout the course of that year, Jason discovered that the need for a dependable HVAC contractor was bigger than he realized, and as the demands of owning several different businesses grew increasingly difficult, he was ready for a change.
In 2011, Jason became the sole owner of Capital Heating & Cooling, the HVAC division of Capital Construction Services. Dissolving Fifth Ward Development meant starting a new business from scratch, and finding new customers, figuring out a business plan, competition and financial strains were part of the gig.
